Maxsurf Webinars

Each month we conduct an online webinar on a different Maxsurf topic. The webinar consists of a presentation of the concepts behind a particular set of functions within the Maxsurf suite and also a live demonstration of the programs in use in that functional area. The following are the presentations and some video excerpts from past webinars.

Webinar 1 - Working With Existing Designs

Maxsurf offers a range of tools to help you create a Maxsurf model of an existing design. This webinar covers managing offsets, creating a TriMesh surfaces for analysis purposes, automated creation of NURB surfaces, and manual fitting of NURB curves and surfaces.

Webinar 2 - Modelling Techniques

Before you start modelling in your design you should spend some time planning surface layout and deciding how to model your surfaces. This webinar explains these techniques as well as bonding, trimming, fairing and modelling tanks and compartments.

Webinar 3 - Intact Stability

The Hydromax module provides a comprehensive range of stability analyses. This webinar introduces you to intact stability calculations including upright hydrostatics, large angle stability, tanks and load cases, equilibrium calculations and stability criteria.

Webinar 4 - Intact Stability Advanced

This webinar extends the previous explanations of intact stability calculations to include advanced topics such as complex tank definition, custom criteria, limiting KG and custom reporting.

Webinar 5 - Damage Stability

This webinar explains the concepts and procedures involved in using Hydromax to carry out deterministic damage stability calculations. It covers damage concepts, setting up damage cases and criteria, running limiting KG with damage, and running floodable length and Marpol oil outflow calculations.

Webinar 6 - Probabilistic Damage Stability

This webinar explains the concepts and procedures involved in using Hydromax to carry out probabilistic damage stability calculations. It covers concepts and history, setting up subdivision zones and criteria and interpreting results.

Webinar 7 - Powering, Resistance and Wavemaking

In this webinar techniques for predicting resistance, powering requirements and wave making of hulls is explained. It covers both regression and slender body techniques and explains how to set up and run a resistance analysis using Hullspeed.

Webinar 8 - Motions Prediction

In this webinar we show how to use Seakeeper to predict the motions of a vessel in a range of sea states. The videos explain how to set up the initial conditions for calculation, the theory behind the calculations and how to interpret the results and create visualisations of vessel motions.
